The aim of the course:
To consider music as a part of culture, to get knowledge about the evolution of music and the relationship between people and music, to teach the culture phenomenon in music history, also social, mythological, religious, and educational functions and development of music in the societies since the ancient times in Mediterranean, To study technical features, history and culture of European music and Turkish Makam music in the geographical region, which is from Central Asia to Balkans and Europe, by comparing with historical documents, to get ability to make presentations in national and international arenas.

Contents of the Course
Romantic era. Social and cultural life of Europe in 19th century and the place of music. Composers of Romantic era: C.Maria von Weber, L. Spohr, F. Schubert, H. Berlioz, F.Mendelssohn, R.Schumann, F. Lisz. Development of Opera. National trends in music and composers. Chopin, Smetana, Dvorjak, Janacek, Wagner, Verdi, Brahms, Bruckner, Rubinstein, Thchaikovsky. Scandinavian music culture in 19th Century. Last Romantics. G. Mahler, R. Strauss, Hugo Wolf, Max Reger.
