The aim of the course:
Provide solutions to mining problems using the appropriate statistical approaches and methods.

Contents of the Course
Basic concepts in statistics, data collection-classification-presentation, statistical parameter analysis, important distributions and their properties, basic statistical test methods and application to mining problems, variogram model and krigging technique

 Week 2Probability, permutations, combinations, important distributions
 Week 3Sampling of data, sampling-random sampling tests, summarizing data - frequency distributions , construction of frequency tables, histogram, graphical presentation, pie charts, Statistical analysis of parameters (arithmetic mean, geometric mean, median, mode)
 Week 4Statistical parameter analysis (variance, standard deviation, skewness, kurtosis, quarters, percent)
 Week 5Important distributions, the distribution of the sample mean, population parameter estimation, and properties of the normal distribution curve
 Week 6Hypothesis testing
 Week 7Z-test, significance test of population mean, calculation of degrees of freedom,
