The aim of the course:
Teachnig communication systems and techniques, discussing the techniques reforming with the industry, physical channel capacities of communications and their associated applications.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : understand and identify communication systems
LO - 2 : know the techniques in communications
LO - 3 : assest techniques with the industrial trend
LO - 4 : know the developing communication systems (i.e. GSM, LAN, WLAN, RFID, DVB-T etc)

Audio, video, data communications; wireline, wirless, ultrasonic and optical communication systems: modem, radar sonar, RFID applications: 3G/4G communication technologies; IP networking and application

 Week 2Introduction to communication systems: Channel capacities of Coaxial, twisted peer, wireless indoor, wireless outdoor, terresterial, satelite, ınfrared and optical communications.
 Week 3basic definitions: features of analog communication systems, delay, group delay, delay spread and intersymbol interference, channel modeling
 Week 4basic definitions: Rayleigh and Ricean Channel Modeling, synchronisation and channel estimation, offset frequency, Doppler spread
 Week 5basic definitions: channel matching filters, channel countermeasure filters, adaptive filters and channel tracking
 Week 6Audio and video systems,
