The aim of the course:
To consider music as a part of culture, to get knowledge about the evolution of music and the relationship between people and music, to teach the culture phenomenon in music history, also social, mythological, religious, and educational functions and development of music in the societies since the ancient times in Mediterranean, To study technical features, history and culture of European music and Turkish Makam music in the geographical region, which is from Central Asia to Balkans and Europe, by comparing with historical documents, to get ability to make presentations in national and international arenas.

Contents of the Course
The Age of Enlightenment. Baroque Era. Social and cultural life of Europe in 17th century, and review on the placement of music in this period. Opera and Oratorio. Religious Music in Germany. The development of the musical instruments in 17th century and new instrumental music forms. J. Sebastian Bach, G. Friedrich Haendel, G. Philippe Telemann, Antonio Vivaldi, J. Philippe Rameau, Domenico Scarlatti. Classical era. Social and cultural life of Europe in 18th century and review on the place of music in this era: Composer of Classic era. Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven. Perception of musical forms and classic era: Symphony, concerto, sonata and chamber music.
