The aim of the course:
The aim of the course is to develop the students' analyzing skills about the effects of religion, an independent variable which is largely ignored by rational choices theories, on states' decision-making processes.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
PO - 1 : analyze the effects of religion on politics and internatiınal relations21,
PO - 2 : explain the relations between religion and conflict as well as conflict-solution21,
PO - 3 : gain information about religious groups and organizations21,
PO - 4 : learn about religion's relation with political processes such as development, democratization and security.21,
CTPO : Contribution to programme outcomes, TOA :Type of assessment (1: written exam, 2: Oral exam, 3: Homework assignment, 4: Laboratory exercise/exam, 5: Seminar / presentation, 6: Term paper), PO : Learning Outcome

 
Contents of the Course
In this course the effects of religious ideologies and religious organizations on domestic and foreign policies will be analyzed. In addition, the students will be informed about religion's effects on conflicts and conflict-solution processes while positive and negative effects of religion on interstate relations will be described through historical and contemporary examples.
