The aim of the course:
The aim of this course is to introduce the essential algebraic structures(semigroups, monoids, groups) by elementary examples. As special examples of groups, the symmetric group Sn and the group Zn are introduced in detail. Also the construction of numbers(natural numbers, integers, rational numbers) is given.

Learning OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : understand the concepts of 'binary operation' and 'algebraic structure'1,2,3,4,5,6,7,81
LO - 2 : learn the constructions of numbers1,2,3,4,5,6,7,81
LO - 3 : realize the importance and the form of the symmetric group1,2,3,4,5,6,7,81
LO - 4 : understand the concept 'the group Zn' by many examples1,2,3,4,5,6,7,81
CTPO : Contribution to programme outcomes, TOA :Type of assessment (1: written exam, 2: Oral exam, 3: Homework assignment, 4: Laboratory exercise/exam, 5: Seminar / presentation, 6: Term paper), LO : Learning Outcome
