The aim of the course:
The objective of the module is to develop the basic knowledge of the unit processes into a deeper understanding of the current developments in mineral processing.

Contents of the Course
Developments in comminution: Impact and high pressure rolls crushers, autogenous grinding, fine grinding equipment and testing of grinding media. Developments in gravity concentration: Centrifugal separators such as Falcon and Knelson concentrators. Super conducting magnetic separation and applications. Eddy current separators and their potential applications. Development of new flotation reagents, advances in flotation cell design and column flotation, collectorless flotation of sulphide minerals and the importance of Eh. Methods for recovery of ultrafine particles including selective flocculation, shear flocculation and oil agglomeration. Process control of mineral processing applications.
