The aim of the course:
To establish an understanding of spatial data models and spatial data structures used in GIS. To get a grasp of these models and structures from a developers perspective.

Contents of the Course
An introduction to spatial data models and data structures for GIS. Relational and Object-Oriented data models. Raster and vector representations. Spatial data structures; Quadtrees and other hierarchical data structures. Spatial indexing and spatial clustering. Data models of the popular GIS software. Project; realisation of the concepts in Oracle Spatial.
