Understanding Web GIS and Web 2.0 technologies, syntactic and semantic web technologies.

Basic concepts. Web services, Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI), Local, National and Global Spatial Data Infrastructure, clearinghouses, Catalog Services, address databases, gazetteer services. Related OGC and ISO standards.
