The aim of the course:
The main objective of this course is to provide the student the inform about vibrations, damped oscillations, forced oscillations, vibrations of coupled bodies, vibrations of continuous systems, wave propagation and boundary effects which are found in many systems in daily life.

Learning OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : recognize and explain the systems representing the vibrations and waves in daily life.2,3,61
LO - 2 : apply the fundamental concepts and theories to waves forming and propagating in different media for anticipating and describing the events in daily life.2,3,61
LO - 3 : understand the applications of free and damped oscillations in daily life.2,3,61
LO - 4 : identify under which conditions the forced oscillations in daily life.2,3,61
LO - 5 : understand that the system composed of N-body converts to continuous provided that N becomes larger.2,3,61
LO - 6 : comprehend that normal modes of continuous systems are in steady state waves.61
LO - 7 : learn that the progressive waves transfer energy and momentum.2,3,61
LO - 8 : calculate energy carried by the waves2,3,61
LO - 9 : calculate the reflected and transmitted waves across the boundary of two media2,3,61
CTPO : Contribution to programme outcomes, TOA :Type of assessment (1: written exam, 2: Oral exam, 3: Homework assignment, 4: Laboratory exercise/exam, 5: Seminar / presentation, 6: Term paper), LO : Learning Outcome
