The aim of the course:
Definition of pharmacognosy, introduction to pharmacognosy, history of pharmacognosy, giving basic information about secondary metabolites and heteroside groups.
 
Learning OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : Will be able to determine the necessary conditions for growing, collecting and storing natural materials to be used as pharmaceutical raw materials.5,7,14
LO - 2 : Will be able to apply the necessary methods to determine the quality control of natural source pharmaceutical raw materials and their compliance with standards.5,7,14
LO - 3 : Will be able to interpret pharmaceutical raw materials in carbohydrate, gum, mucilage, enzyme and protein structures.5,7,14

Contents of the Course
Definition of pharmacognosy, introduction to pharmacognosy, history of pharmacognosy, definitions, physical and chemical properties, separation methods of primary (glucides, lipids, amino acids, peptides, proteins and enzymes) and secondary metabolism products (phenylpropane derivatives; coumarin, flavonoids, anthranoids, tannins, etc.), Qualitative and quantitative analysis methods, biological activities and drugs rich in these substances, ways of use and purposes among the public are given.
