The aim of the course:
The aim of the Pharmaceutical Microbiology course to teach the students of the Faculty of Pharmacy about their responsibilities and roles as a professional group in the fight against infectious diseases within the scope of one health concept. In this context, information is given about the effects of infectious diseases on public health and social structure from the historical process to the present. The structure and mechanisms of microorganisms causing infectious diseases are taught. Information is given on the relationships between pathogens causing disease and the immune system. Obtaining antimicrobial substances used in the treatment of these diseases, mechanisms of action and resistance development mechanisms are examined. New and re-emerging zoonotic diseases are introduced and the role of the pharmacist in the fight against these diseases is comprehended.
