The aim of the course:
To give information about matter, the structure of the atom, molecules, compounds and types of chemical reactions, states of matter, chemical bonds and molecular shapes.

Contents of the Course
Matter; elements, compounds, mixtures, naming of compounds. Measurements and mole concept; measurements and units, quantity measurements in chemistry (mole concept), finding chemical formulas, solutions. Chemical reactions; chemical equations and chemical reactions, precipitation reactions, acid-base reactions, redox reactions. Reaction stoichiometry: chemical calculations, use of reaction stoichiometry, reaction limiters. Properties of gases; Gas laws, molecular motion, real gases. Thermochemistry: energy, heat and enthalpy, enthalpy of chemical change, heats of reaction. The structure of the atom; observation of atoms, atomic models, structure of multi-electron atoms, periodic properties of atoms, chemistry and periodic system. Chemical bonds; ionic bonds, covalent bonds, structures of polyatomic species, exceptions to the octet rule, Lewis acids and bases, comparison of ionic and covalent bonds. Molecular: Shape, size and bond strength; shapes of molecules and ions, charge distribution in molecules, strengths and lengths of bonds, orbitals and bond formation.
