The aim of the course:
Aims to provide the students with a general knowledge on the data about formation of ocean basins, the topography or shape of the ocean floors, the distribution and type of bottom sediments, the composition and structure of the underlying rocks, and the geologic processes that have been at work throughout the seafloor's history.

Learning OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : to be able to do researches to determine the structure and composition of the sea bottom,2,4,61
LO - 2 : to be able to determine the distribution, quality and thickness of sediments on the sea bottom by means of various methods and tools,2,4,61
LO - 3 : to be able to make environmental interpretations based on life styles and environments of marine organisms.2,4,61
LO - 4 : to be able to determine and interpret the effects of sea water movements by using chemical and physical properties of sea water.2,4,6
CTPO : Contribution to programme outcomes, TOA :Type of assessment (1: written exam, 2: Oral exam, 3: Homework assignment, 4: Laboratory exercise/exam, 5: Seminar / presentation, 6: Term paper), LO : Learning Outcome
