The scope of urban and regional planning disciplines and the interconnection and collaboration among professions will be discussed. Understanding and interpreting the social, environmental, and economic dimensions of cities will be emphasized. Factors/actors directing the development of cities will be identified, and the relationships between these institutions and actors will be defined, while discussing the causes of urbanization problems. Basic information will be provided on the interpretation and evaluation of zoning plans, which are one of the tools of planning discipline.

This course begins by defining the concepts of country, region, and urban planning. Subsequently, it focuses on the systematic examination of settlements and the evolution of settlements and planning. Then, it addresses land use and planning principles, providing students with fundamental knowledge in these areas. Another significant section of the course involves examining the urban planning process and legal foundations in Turkey. In this part, students will receive information about how the urban planning process operates within the country and its legal basis. Additionally, the course covers information about the role and function of surveying and cartographic services in the planning process. |
