The aim of the course:
The main aim of this course is to teach the use of GPS application areas in Geodesy.
 
Learning OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : understand technical words and expressions related GPS and be able to perceive the differences among various GPS surveying methods. 2,61,5
LO - 2 : obtain information about densification and restoration of geodetic networks with GPS, and perform transformation among different coordinate systems.2,61,5
LO - 3 : use GPS in different areas such as deformation studies, geology, geophysics, hydrographic surveying, etc. 2,61,5
LO - 4 : improve their presentation skills by preparing power point presentations regarding using GPS in different research area. 2,61,5

Contents of the Course
Overview of the GPS, absolute and relative position determinations, uses for GPS : geodetic control, geoid determination, cadastral surveys, hydrographic surveying, Geographical Information System (GIS) , automated vehicle locating, deformation measurements, photogrammetry, remote sensing, forestry, precise farming, military applications, tourism and sports activities.
