The aim of the course:
To make students understand the meaning of geoid and its importance for geodesy.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :

LO - 2 : understand why geoid is important for geodesy1
LO - 3 : learn height and height types1
LO - 4 : learn how the heights are determined1
LO - 5 : learn how the geoid is determined and which methods are used1

Concept of Gravity and Potential, Definition and Importance of Geoid, Vertical Datum, Sea Level Measurements, Average Sea Surface, Geodetic Control of Weather Stations, Turkey National Sea Level Monitoring System (Tudes), Geodetic Heights, Turkey National Vertical Control Network Geoid Determination Techniques and Methods, Interpolation Methods for Geoid Heights, Geoids of Turkey, Finding Orthometric Heights.
