The aim of the course:
To inform students about the basic topics in the Surveying-1 course content. To provide students with the basic concepts in surveying at the beginning level.
 
Learning OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : Students will understand the necessary measurement units and their conversions to each other in cartography, and will learn trigonometric functions and basic triangle solutions. 1,21,
LO - 2 : They will be able to learn the techniques and methods of mapping (parcel measurement) with simple measuring instruments.1,21,3,
LO - 3 : Students will be able to calculate parcel areas using various methods.1,21,3,

Contents of the Course
Units of distance, area, angle and arc. Description of Trigonometric functions, their signs and found of their values. Equations between angles's trigonometric functions. Inverse trigonometric functions. Basic solves of triangle. Some formulas for shapes with four sides and circles. Map and scale. Elementary measurement tools. Distance measurement and practise. To prepare maps and plans with simple measuring instruments. Prismatic taking and application. Scale changing. Calculation of parcel areas. Area measurement with planimeter. Error causes and error types in measurements.
