The aim of the course:
To acquire the ability and habit of effective and fine speaking. to give the concious of native language.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : understand the sound structure of Turkish and gain pronouncation and diction suitable to this.11
LO - 2 : understand basic features of the ability of listening and speaking.11
LO - 3 : learn types of verbal expression and perform these.11
LO - 4 : acquire the ability of speaking before crowd.11

Contents of the Course
The basic features of verbal language and communication. Verbal expression; The basic features of speaking ability (using the body and natural language) ; the basic principles of an effective speaking; The basic features of an effective speaker (stress, intonation, discontinuance; diction etc. ) . prepared and unprepared speaking ; phases of prepared speaking (selection and limitation of the subject; aim, view, determining the main and supporting ideas, planning, writing the text; presentation of speaking) . types of speaking: ( mutual speaking, conversation, introducing oneself, answering the questions, christmas, birth, bairam etc celebrate an important event, telling the way, speaking on a phone, asking fora job, interviewing with someone, radio and television speeches, joining to various culture, art programmesas a speaker etc. ) . speaking on different subjects unpreparely, studies on sample speakings and verbal expression practices, correcting language and expression mistakes in speech

 Week 2To tell different listening techniques (careful listening, true listening, critical listening) with examples; the importance of taking notes in listening skill.
 Week 3Physical and psychological factors that prevent effective listening; The necessities to increase productivity of listening skill.
 Week 4The importance of speaking skill; methods and techniques used to develop speaking skill.
 Week 5The importance of diction; To show some important issues in the pronunciation of Turkish words with examples.
 Week 6To show speaking mistakes with examples and the ways to correct these.
 Week 7Place of speaking skill in the curriculums, Text reading studies, poetry reading techniques
 Week 8To teach the steps of preparing speech for important days (prepariation, to control excitement, to plan the speech, the elements that make speech effective)
 Week 9Mid-term exam
 Week 10To introduce mutual speech varieties with examples (dialogue and interviews); To make classroom instances
 Week 11To introduce speaking types in front of community with examples (speech and conferences); To make classroom instances
 Week 12To introduce types of controversial speech with examples (discussion, debate, panel); To make classroom instances, quiz.
 Week 13To introduce types of controversial speech with examples (panel, forum, symposium); To make classroom instances
 Week 14To evaluate language mistakes in auditory and visual media with examples, to find solution ways for correcting these mistakes out.
