| Functions, requirements and limitations of the radiograph in endodontics are explained. Additionally, basic demands of endodontic radiology and techniques in radiographic examination for endodontic purposes are taught. Conventional film radiography, digital radiography, xeroradiographic imaging, multimodal narrow-beam systems and microcomputed tomography are demonstrated. Bisecting and parallel conventional radiographic techniques are compared. Root canal working length determination with radiographic methods are showed. Expressions of periapical disease and differential diagnoses of pathologies on radiographic diagnosis are told in detail. Dental anatomy, previous endodontic treatments, treatment complications, controls following completion of root filling that are essential to endodontic therapy are reviewed on radiographs. Advantages and limitations of radiographs are discussed. Finally, Orascopy and Endoscopy which are new advances in endodontic radiology are introduced. |
