The aim of the course:
The objectives of the course are to teach how the analysis of some important industrial material can be analyzed, purpose of the analysis, what the chemical the reaction are, the methods of the analysis, calculation of the results and interpretation of the results, how the related problems are solved.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : do coal and oil analysis such as moisture, flying material, raw coke, ash, and burnable sulfur in a example of coal, determine the heat of coal, to measure viscosity, flash point, density and flowing point of oils.2,3,4,5,6,7,81,4
LO - 2 : do vegatable oil analysis including calculation of oil% in a example of seed, acid, soaping, iodine and peroxide indexes.2,3,4,5,6,7,81,4
LO - 3 : do fertilizer analysis such as the determination of nitrogen amount of nitrogen containing fertilizers and percentage of P2O5 in phosphors containing fertilizers.1,2,3,4,5,6,7,81,4
LO - 4 : explain the kinds of soap, how they are produced, determination of free alkality, free fat acid, determination of chloride and total active material in detergents.2,3,4,5,6,7,81,4

Contents of the Course
Fuels and Analysis of them: How should a coal example be taken, preparation of a example of coal for analysis, determination of moisture, flying material, raw coke, burnable sulfur, ash and heat of a coal example, determination of viscosity, flash point, flowing point and density of an oil example. Analysis of vegetable oils: A brief information about production of a vegetable oil, determination of acid, soaping, iodine and peroxide indexes in vegetable oils, extraction of oil from hazelnut and determination of percentage of oil in the hazelnut. Fertilizers and Analysis of them: Preparation of a fertilizer for analysis, determination of nitrogen in nitrogen containing fertilizers by distillation and formaldehyde solution, determination of %P2O5 in phosphorus containing fertilizers, the reactions in the experiments. Analysis of Soap and Detergent: Determination of free alkality, free fat acid, determination of chloride and total active component in detergents. . Analysis of cement and Lime: Determination of SiO2, SiO2 and insoluble component in acid, R2O3, SO3 , CaO and MgO in a cement, determination of mass loss of lime by heating. Water Analysis: Taking an sample of water for analysis, determination of total hardness of water by soap and EDTA solutions, determination of permanent and temporary hardness in different units, amounts of alkality, chloride, iron and organic component in a water sample.
