The aim of the course:
Definition Earth's shape and size, solutions spherical and basic geodetic problems.

Learning OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : cognize the reason to use rotational ellipsoid instead of Geoid as a Earth?s shape for calculations and properties of ellipsoid geometry.1,2,5
LO - 2 : understand the main parameters of ellipsoid related to latitude, distance(curve) calculation and area computation on ellipsoid1,2,5
LO - 3 : know geodetic curve, its importance and the necessity to reduction of normal section observation to geodetic curve1,2,5
LO - 4 : understand the necessity of calculation on sphere instead of ellipsoid and selection of these spheres1,2,5
LO - 5 : make spherical triangles solutions with different methods and compare them1,2,5,11
LO - 6 : have knowledge and skill about spherical coordinate systems and different geodetic calculations by rectangular and geographic coordinates1,2,5,11
CTPO : Contribution to programme outcomes, TOA :Type of assessment (1: written exam, 2: Oral exam, 3: Homework assignment, 4: Laboratory exercise/exam, 5: Seminar / presentation, 6: Term paper), LO : Learning Outcome
