Historical sources have great importance in the avaluation of the past events. Without them, any interpretation of the history will be a mistake. The Ottoman Empire reigned six hundred years in a very wide area and its territory sheltered many nations. Thus, in Turkey and in the other countries of the of the Ottoman geography a very rich literature was formed. The Ottoman naturally made effort to write their histories. These were general histories, events and appendixes to some earlier books. İn this lecture, we are going to examine the chronics of the classical age. The chronics will be compared to their contemporaries. We will make critics and the analysis of the sources and try to show how to reach the true knowledge. |
