The aim of the course:
The course aims to provide the students with a general knowledge on solidification mechanism in solids and solidification rate, to enable them to understand casting methods, to teach them the principles of casting, to help them know casting tools, to teach them defects in casting.

Nucleation, Solidification, Solidification in pure metals and alloys, Growth rate for real cast, Feeder distance calculations, Castability and casting alloys, Casting and cast preparation, Casting processes, Sand casting, The full-mold process, Shell mold casting, Ceramic molding, Investment casting, Vacuum molding, Permament-mold casting, Pressure die casting, Die casting, Centrifugal casting, Continuous casting, Melting and pouring, Cleaning, Finishing and heat-treating castings, Melting furnaces, Casting defects and prevention methods.
