Üyesi Serhat SEVGİ | | Co-Lecturer | | | Language of instruction | Turkish | | Professional practise ( internship ) | None | | | | The aim of the course: | | The aim of this lesson is to enable students to advance their professional knowledge, skills, and responsibilities in community and hospital pharmacy practices in accordance with the principles of Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP). Students are expected to apply their theoretical knowledge in real pharmacy and hospital settings, providing qualified pharmaceutical care within the framework of patient safety, ethical principles, health legislation, and legal responsibilities. During the internship, students gain practical experience in topics such as the Health Implementation Guideline (SUT), the Regulation on Pharmacists and Pharmacies, pharmaceutical and medical device legislation, narcotic and psychotropic drug regulations, and the Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK). They also analyze cases related to the ethical, professional, and legal responsibilities of pharmacists. By the end of the course, students are expected to: 1- Comprehend and interpret health legislation and SUT regulations at an advanced level, 2- Perform community pharmacy practices in compliance with legal requirements, 3- Apply acquired knowledge and skills at a professional level, 4- Conduct comprehensive prescription evaluations and provide effective patient counseling, 5-Understand the structure and responsibilities of hospital pharmacies and the pharmacist?s duties therein, 6Recognize administrative, technical, and legal responsibilities in the production of pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and medical materials. |

| In this lesson, students comprehensively experience the professional practices of pharmacy within both community and hospital settings.
In the community pharmacy, students observe processes such as the procurement of medicines and medical devices, stock management, prescription dispensing, patient counseling, and pharmacist?patient communication. They learn about the legal procedures, recordkeeping, and archiving related to controlled drugs (purple, orange, red, and green prescriptions). The organization and maintenance of business, inventory, prescription, narcotic, and personnel records, as well as procedures related to auxiliary staff, insurance, and basic accounting, are examined. Relations between the pharmacist and the local Chamber of Pharmacists, the Ministry of Health, the Social Security Institution (SGK), and the Ministry of Finance are evaluated. Topics such as pharmacy management, professional ethics, the protection of personal data (KVKK), and relevant legislation are also addressed.
In the hospital pharmacy, students observe the preparation, distribution, and documentation processes of medicines and medical supplies. The pharmacist?s role in hospital formularies and committees (e.g., infection control, rational drug use, quality management) is explored. Safety measures in handling hazardous medicines, including the preparation of intravenous and cytotoxic drugs, as well as hygiene and storage conditions, are emphasized. Preparation of medications for hospital wards, and examination of drug procurement, pricing, and reimbursement principles in accordance with the Health Implementation Guideline (SUT). |
