Introduction to cartography and basic concepts, size and shape of the Earth; Geoid, reference ellipsoid and datum concepts, Introduction to Map Projections, Geographic coordinate system concepts, Distortion in map projections, Spherical Trigonometry, Spherical polar coordinate system, Special curves on the Earth, Reductions in map projection, Zone transformations, Map indexing with Geographic Coordinates, Cartographic visualization, Classification of Maps, Topographic maps and representation of heights, contour lines, Scale and Cartographic Generalization, Online Mapping Systems. |
