The aim of the course:
To be able to distinguish texts from non-texts, to be able to evaluate texts using textual language analysis methods.

Contents of the Course
The main and sub-fields of Linguistics and its relation to other disciplines. The description of the term "text". The relationship between the text and Linguistics. The field of textlinguistics. Comprehension of text as the main component of communication and the utterance as the main component of the text. Utterance and discourse. History of textlinguistics and the milestone researchers of textlinguistics. The concept of text Textlinguistics. The communication scheme of Jacobson and the functions of language. The structure of texts Micro-structure and the description of texts Macro-structure and analysing texts Meta-structure (i.e. hypertext) and the interpretation of texts Styles of texts. A communication chart for texttypes Functions of text types.
