The aim of the course:
To enlighten the students about the source of English Drama, its development and contributions to the European and World Drama, the place and significance of visual arts in English Literature, the components and the themes peculiar to the traditional English Drama, referring to the thoughts and works of the well known playwrights, directors and theatre authorities.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
PO - 1 : know which playwrights built the basis of the English Drama, which kind of plays they wrote, and what the circumstances are that these plays were written in.1,2,31,3,5,6

PO - 3 : comprehend that a work of art is not only a product of its age but also it has a place beyond its age. 1,2,31,3,5,6

Contents of the Course
This course includes the basic components of English Drama, The characteristics of the theatre occurred in the Middle Ages, miracle plays, mystery plays and morality plays, English Drama in Renaissance, English Drama in Elizabethan Age, English Drama in Restoration Period, English Drama in Neo-Classical Period, Nineteenth Century amateur troupes, Independent Theatres, topics such as censorship and samples from the play texts from different periods.
