Prof. Dr. Mine Kadıoğlu Duman | Language of instruction | Turkish | Professional practise ( internship ) | None | | The aim of the course: | The course aims to provide the students a general knowledge on parameters and pharmacokinetic events (absorption, distribution, biotransformation, excretion) on the basis of drug action, to enable them to understand the importance of pharmacokinetic properties of drugs. |
Programme Outcomes | CTPO | TOA | Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to : | | | PO - 1 : | learn what pharmacokinetics is. | 1,3,5 | 1,6 | PO - 2 : | learn what absorption mechanisms of the drugs are | 1,3,5 | 1,6 | PO - 3 : | learn what disrtribution mechanisms of the drugs are. | 1,3,5 | 1,6 | PO - 4 : | learn what biotrransformation mechanisms of the drugs are. | 1,3,5 | 1,6 | PO - 5 : | to learn what excretion mechanismsare of the drugs are | 1,3,5 | 1,6 | CTPO : Contribution to programme outcomes, TOA :Type of assessment (1: written exam, 2: Oral exam, 3: Homework assignment, 4: Laboratory exercise/exam, 5: Seminar / presentation, 6: Term paper), PO : Learning Outcome | |
There are four steps of pharmacokinetics: absorption, distribution, biotransformation and excretion. Drug action is affected directly by these events dependent to the concentration reached at the target tissue. The knowledge about the pharmacokinetics and the functions of the organs that play a role in pharmacokinetics will help the students to understand the effect of possible problems in disease conditions on pharmacokinetics, and also will help to overcome these problems. |
