The aim of the course:
The objective of this course is to teach basic principles of design and fundamentals of timber structures. Students will utilise their knowledge from mechanics, strength of materials and structural analysis to design a structure using timber as a material.

Programme OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
PO - 1 : Practice structural mechanics knowledge to design timber structural sections.1,3,5,6,7,8,9,111,3
PO - 2 : Desing structures made of timber, timber structural members using Eurocode 5 and TS648.1,3,5,9,111,3
PO - 3 : Define, determine and solve timber structural problems 1,3,5,111,3
PO - 4 : Present a subject in front of an audience.7,93
PO - 5 : Follow various codes and new technology.3,9,111,3
PO - 6 : Use various structural analysis programs for timber design.3,113
CTPO : Contribution to programme outcomes, TOA :Type of assessment (1: written exam, 2: Oral exam, 3: Homework assignment, 4: Laboratory exercise/exam, 5: Seminar / presentation, 6: Term paper), PO : Learning Outcome
