The aim of the course:
Giving general information on the basic concepts of drug metabolism, biotransformation reactions, functional groups in drug metabolism, enzymes involved in drug metabolism, enzyme inhibition and induction, reactive metabolites, factors affecting drug metabolism, stereochemistry of drug metabolism reactions, the concept of prodrug, the use of drug metabolism in the discovery of new drug active substances; to create awareness among students about this issue.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : Would be able to define general concepts related to drug metabolism.8,11,121,
LO - 2 : Would have an idea about enzymes involved in drug metabolism, enzyme inhibition and induction, reactive metabolites and factors affecting drug metabolism.2,81,
LO - 3 : Would be able to comprehend the importance of drug metabolism in biotransformation reactions and development of new drug candidates.1,4,71,

Contents of the Course
Basic concepts of drug metabolism, biotransformation reactions (Phase I, Phase II), functional groups in drug metabolism, enzymes in drug metabolism, enzyme inhibition and induction, reactive metabolites, factors affecting drug metabolism, stereochemistry of drug metabolism reactions, prodrug concept, use of drug metabolism in the discovery of new drug candidates.
