The aim of the course:
Understanding typographic maps, map marks and following typographic maps, forest type maps, using Global Positioning Systems and compass, nature resource satellites, practical direction estimates.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : Students will be able to learn standard typographic maps with a 1/25000 scale and distinguish the map marks on those maps.6,7,121,2
LO - 2 : Students will be able to find their direction with the help of typographic maps and compass and will be able to use GPS.6,7,121,2
LO - 3 : Students will be able to understand abbreviations used in the forest type maps and find their direction using those maps.6,7,121,2
LO - 4 : Students will be able to learn the nature resource satellites and practical methods of finding directions. 6,7,121

Contents of the Course
General information about maps and projections, general information about standard typographic maps with a 1/25000 scale, map marks, stand type maps, and abbreviations used those maps, using compass and Global Positioning Systems (GPS), natural resource satellite images, practical finding direction.

 Week 1Giving general information about content of the course, explaining applicaitons, explaining some rules during the course.
 Week 2Projection parameters, projection types, reference systems, coordinate systems, datum.
 Week 3Maps, secret and unclassified maps, standard typographic maps with a 1/25000 scale and nomanclature of those maps
 Week 4Map marks on the typographic maps and their definitions.
 Week 5Continue of map marks on the typographic maps and their definitions.
 Week 6Applications to find some details such as creek, ridge, road or lakes on the typographic maps.
 Week 7Finding coordinates using typographic maps.
 Week 8Giving general information about GPS, finding some parameters suchas coordinates, altitude or track distance with the help of GPS. Entering coordimates of a point to GPS and finding that coordinates.
 Week 9Written mid term examination
 Week 10Forest type maps, abbreviations and their definitions used in those maps.
 Week 11Showing some geographic details such as creek or ringe and abbreviations of some stands on the stand type maps.
 Week 12Oral examinaton
 Week 13Natural resource sattelites, general information about sattelites, history of those satellites and using in the planning of wildlife planning.
 Week 14Practical finding direction.
 Week 15Continue to practical finding direction.
 Week 16Final examination
