The aim of the course:
Mapping of sphere to plane methods , conformal mapping of ellipsoid to plane and UTM

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : understand the definition of projections and mappings for geodetic aims, their properties and relationships between information on map and original.21,
LO - 2 : cognize properties of different spherical projections in terms of geodetic calculations.31,
LO - 3 : get knowledge about conformal mapping of general surfaces and isometric parameters.21,
LO - 4 : comprehend mathematical properties of Gauss-Krüger projections of ellipsoid to plane and can make coordinate conversions by using different calculation methods.41
LO - 5 : comprehend the subjects of UTM system and calculations, transformation calculations, map sheets and their relations with regulations.56,

Contents of the Course
Mapping of sphere to plane, basic concepts, conformal mappings, Stereographic projection, isometric coordinate system and isometric latitude. Gauss-Krüger mapping of ellipsoid to plane. Computation of series, Computation of Gauss coordinates from Ellipsoidal geographical coordinates. Reduction length and direction. UTM and transformation for UTM zone.
