The aim of the course:
Investigating of general land management problems in rural areas, analysis of land ownership and land use by farmers, managing rural land and evaluation/interpretation of rural development projects.

Contents of the Course
Rural areas and rural development. Agricultural policy and its history in Turkey. Structural analysis of the Turkish Agricultural sector and the Common Agricultural Policy of the EU. Agriculture and agricultural production concepts, and the factors effecting agricultural production. Developments in organic agriculture and its importance. Precision agriculture technologies. Soil-Land classification. Agricultural holdings in Turkey and their properties. Scattered agricultural lands and their effects to agricultural holdings. Reasons for scattered agricultural land, and scattered land in Turkey. Basic information on land consolidation. Land consolidation implementation in Turkey. Implementation of land consolidation in some other countries, and samples of rural land management (village renewal, rural development) . Basic phases of land consolidation. Surveying in land consolidation. Introduction to some sample land consolidation projects.

 Week 1Introduction to the land consolidation, providing information about agricultural policy and historical development in Türkiye, structural analysis of Türkiye's agricultural sector and information about the EU common agricultural policy.
 Week 2Concepts of agriculture and agricultural production, factors affecting agricultural production, land and water resources in Türkiye.
 Week 3Providing information about the development and importance of organic agriculture and precision applied agricultural technologies.
 Week 4Providing information about agricultural enterprises in Türkiye and their characteristics, fragmentation of agricultural lands and its effects on enterprises.
 Week 5Providing information about the reasons for fragmentation of agricultural lands, land fragmentation in Türkiye and the introduction of consolidation.
 Week 6Providing general information about Land Consolidation (LC). Providing information about consolidation studies in Türkiye. Providing information about the effects of LC implementation on health, environment and security in universal and societal dimensions.
 Week 7Designing a complex system, the AT implementation, to meet specific requirements under realistic constraints and conditions.
 Week 8MID-TERM EXAM
 Week 9Introduction of AT phases and project work.
 Week 10Providing information about measurement processes in consolidation and consolidation-zoning relations. Introduction of applied, sample AT projects, explanation of the processes to be carried out in the AT project.
 Week 11Distribution of AT projects to students and determination of the project area, introduction of drawings and project areas, raising awareness of the legal consequences of engineering solutions.
 Week 12Providing information about the general evaluation of the AT, its impact on the implementation process and the problems experienced today.
 Week 13Determination of soil, yield and location index boundaries, preparation and control of "index and rating maps".
 Week 14Creation of new block areas (road-water network), calculation and control of block areas. Creation of new parcels (parcelling) and distribution process.
 Week 15Checking and collecting homework. Conducting a question and answer session.
 Week 16FINAL EXAM
