The aim of the course:
The objective of this course is to give fundamental information related to height surveying. In this context, it is given theoretical and practice information about height and geoid concepts, height types, relation among the height types, geometric leveling, cross sectioning, longitudinal sectioning, trigonometric height difference determining methods.

Learning OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : understand importance of the height data for the map by learning height systems and height concept. Thus, they will apprehend necessity of this course for their occupation. 101,3
LO - 2 : determine elevation with geometrical levelling by learning level types. 111,3
LO - 3 : make trigonometric measurement by using theodolite, or electronic total station 121,3
LO - 4 : find elevation difference with different measurement methods for stable points which are given in the field practise. After that, they will compare methods. 121,3
LO - 5 : determine topocrafic structure of a spesific direction of the land with height measurement methods and compare measurement model of the land designed by the students with real model of the land. 201,3
LO - 6 : draw contours and benefit from them. 131,3
CTPO : Contribution to programme outcomes, TOA :Type of assessment (1: written exam, 2: Oral exam, 3: Homework assignment, 4: Laboratory exercise/exam, 5: Seminar / presentation, 6: Term paper), LO : Learning Outcome
