FOUNDATION & HISTORY  
It was established in 1992 to train students who can examine and analyze the external aspects of the political, legal and economic characteristics of societies in the world, as a discipline that primarily examines the political, legal and economic relations between various actors in the international system, especially states.
QUALIFICATION AWARDED  
Students who successfully complete this program are awarded a bachelor's degree in International Relations. This department is subject to the 240 ECTS credit first stage degree system in the field of International Relations in higher education.

ADMISSION & REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS  
1 - High school diploma
2 - Obtaining the required grade from National University Entrance and Placement Exam (YKS)
OBJECTIVE of THE PROGRAMME  
Our program consists of academics who are experts in their research areas and the necessary studies are carried out together with the courses. The aim is to train students as individuals along with research skills. The research areas of our department are mostly based on International Law, Political History and International Politics. In this direction, the academic profile of the department is tried to be kept wide. And also, the aim is to enable our students to be successful in the vocational exams they will encounter later, and to continue their studies in both the public and private sectors.
RECOGNATION of PRIOR LEARNING  
The "Directive on Recognition of Prior Learning", Senate Decision No. 340 issued on July 28, 2023, has been accepted and entered into force regarding the students registered in all programs of Karadeniz Technical University to determine the principles to be followed for the recognition, crediting, and adaptation of the achievements acquired by the students at non-university institutions.



In this Directive,



- recognition of knowledge, skills, and competencies acquired with special interest through an exemption exam to be substituted as program courses,

- recognition of workplace and internship experiences through portfolio evaluation to be substituted as program courses,

- and the crediting of certificates received from accredited institutions regarding students' special interests are covered.


Announcements of courses included in the scope of recognition of prior learning, applications, and evaluation will be made on the dates specified in the academic calendar.
Recognition of prior learning will offer numerous benefits to our students and employers. For our students, increasing professional development and mobility in the labour market, preventing repetition of education and waste of time, providing early graduation, reducing the cost of learning, encouraging learning, and increasing the student's motivation and self-confidence can be counted among the benefits of recognition of prior learning. From the employers' perspectives, it will contribute to satisfying skill or competence deficiencies in the workplace, reducing the time employees spend outside the workplace for training purposes, and thus using resources more efficiently.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS and REGULATIONS  
The degree is awarded to students who have successfully completed the required credits from thought courses with a CGPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.
EXAMINATION, ASSESSMENT and GRADING REGULATIONS  
1 exam and 1 final exam at the and of the term. %50 of the exam and %50 of the final exam determine the students' success.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS  
Students who successfully complete all of the courses available in the program (for a total of 240 ECTS) and achieve a grade point average of at least 2.0 out of 4.00 and successfully complete the graduation work are entitled to graduate with the title of INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS SPECIALIST.
OCCUPATIONAL PROFILES of GRADUATES  
Our graduates can work in different departments, both in the public and private sectors, depending on their area of expertise and their success in the vocational exams they will encounter later. They are employed as academics at universities by continuing their university education, expert staff in ministries, especially in the ministry of foreign affairs, in the judiciary institutions, in all units and undersecretariats affiliated to the ministries, in different broadcasting organizations and in the media.

DEPARTMENTAL FACILITIES : 
Fully equipped classrooms and computer rooms are available to students. In addition, exchange programs are offered to students in order to develop their vision. In addition, as a result of collaborations with various international organizations, we bring our students together with international relations students from different countries of the world on online platforms in order to improve our students' analytical thinking skills.
