FOUNDATION & HISTORY  
Department of public finance was establised in 1991 within Faculty of Economics and Administrative Science. The program with its four years of education period offers public finance education and accepts students with required grade from National University Entrance and Placement Exam (ÖSS). Research and education in the department are divided into fields including fiscal theory, fiscal economics, fiscal law and budget. The department has young, competent and experienced academic staff. Department also offers master degree in public finance.
QUALIFICATION AWARDED  
The students who have successfully completed all of the thought courses of the programme with 240 ECTS credits and achieved a CGPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 are given Bachelor's Degree in PUBLIC FINANCE

ADMISSION & REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS  
1 - High school diploma, 2 - Obtaining the required grade from University Entrance Exam.
OBJECTIVE of THE PROGRAMME  
Public Finance Department Undergraduate Program educate students that equipped appropriate with the requirement of our age public finance information by monitoring developments in financial matters. For this purpose, it follows a program weighted economics, accounting and tax law. Program pursues staff primarily for the Ministry of Finance to various levels of the various ministries and private enterprises for accounting and financial advisory services.
RECOGNATION of PRIOR LEARNING  
The "Directive on Recognition of Prior Learning", Senate Decision No. 340 issued on July 28, 2023, has been accepted and entered into force regarding the students registered in all programs of Karadeniz Technical University to determine the principles to be followed for the recognition, crediting, and adaptation of the achievements acquired by the students at non-university institutions.

In this Directive,

- recognition of knowledge, skills, and competencies acquired with special interest through an exemption exam to be substituted as program courses,
- recognition of workplace and internship experiences through portfolio evaluation to be substituted as program courses,
- and the crediting of certificates received from accredited institutions regarding students' special interests are covered.

Announcements of courses included in the scope of recognition of prior learning, applications, and evaluation will be made on the dates specified in the academic calendar. Recognition of prior learning will offer numerous benefits to our students and employers. For our students, increasing professional development and mobility in the labour market, preventing repetition of education and waste of time, providing early graduation, reducing the cost of learning, encouraging learning, and increasing the student's motivation and self-confidence can be counted among the benefits of recognition of prior learning. From the employers' perspectives, it will contribute to satisfying skill or competence deficiencies in the workplace, reducing the time employees spend outside the workplace for training purposes, and thus using resources more efficiently.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS and REGULATIONS  
To be able to secure the bachelor's degree in the field of Public Finance the students are required to
(a) have passed all courses in the curiculum with a grade of at least DC form the,
(b) have achieved a cumulative gross point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00,
(c) prepared a graduation thesis, submitted and successfully defended with a passing grade.
EXAMINATION, ASSESSMENT and GRADING REGULATIONS  
The examination, assessment and grading regulations have been set up for the university by the University Senate and the Department of Public Finance is bound by these regulations. Each course is assessed via a midterm exam and a final end-of-term exam, with contributions of 50%, And 50% respectively. Students are required to take the final exam at least 40 points. Grades of AA to CC are pass, DD to FF fail, and DC is conditional pass and requires a CGPA of at least 2.0 for that term. Students failed in all the courses of the semester are allowed to take make-up exams at the end of each semester.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS  
The graduation requirements for the Department of Public Finance are the same as the qualification requirements and regulations. There is no additional requirement to secure the Bachelor's Degree provided that the students have passed all the courses in the curriculum with at least a DC grade, had a cumulative gross point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and prepared a graduation thesis.
OCCUPATIONAL PROFILES of GRADUATES  
Graduates tasks in high-level tasks as tax inspector, revenue specialist, customs inspector, district governor, judge for administrative judiciary and also comptroller, expert or inspector in various financial institutions. In addition, graduates of university can be employed as research assistants, teaching assistants and academic staff also can make academic career. Another field that the department of public finance students have been employed is financial advisor.
ACCESS to FURTHER STUDIES  
The students who have successfully graduated from the department may apply to post graduate programmes in the field of public finance here and in other universities, as well as other fields accepting student from the field of public finance.

DEPARTMENTAL FACILITIES : 
The department has continued its acvities at Faculty of Economics and Administrative Science' building. Department facilities are:
There are 10 rooms, 10 computers, 9 printers for staff,
4 classrooms(100 persons) and one lecture room (150 persons) for students;
4 projection.
At the Economics and Administrative Sciences Faculty there are 2 computer labs equipped with 40 computers with all internet connection.
Students can benefit from our university's main library. In the library open shelves system is applied. Library has all the necessary equipment for users to utilize resources more. (35 computers for screening information , laser printers and scanners)
Student cafetaria that arranged student will spend their time nicely and relax is available in our faculty. In campus a student dining hall that students can eat lunch , cinema, theater, conference hall, sports center and fields are located.
