FOUNDATION & HISTORY  
Firstly after being established as Art Teaching and Music Teaching departments in 1988, our department has been merged under Art Teaching Main Department and Music Teaching Main Department and developed as Fine Arts Education Department. Currently educating students with distinct teaching programs, bringing up art and music teachers.
QUALIFICATION AWARDED  
The students that successfully completed all existing lessons in program (in response of total 240 AKTS ) and gained at least 2,0 out of 4,00, are given graduated diploma in MUSİC TEACHİNG field.

ADMISSION & REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS  
1 - Diploma from a high school or an equivalent school 2 - Adequate score from University Student Election Exam (ÖSS) that has been foreseen for talent exam 3 - Pass from the first stage of music special talent exam and obtain adequate score from the second stage.
OBJECTIVE of THE PROGRAMME  
Music teaching program brings up students towards Turkish national education needs and nowadays music education processes requirements and with providing those being graduated equipped, one each becomes a leading music teacher or a music educator. The students brought up considering the needs of teaching program and principals of art education, become an important part of the Turkish art education.
RECOGNATION of PRIOR LEARNING  
The "Directive on Recognition of Prior Learning", Senate Decision No. 340 issued on July 28, 2023, has been accepted and entered into force regarding the students registered in all programs of Karadeniz Technical University to determine the principles to be followed for the recognition, crediting, and adaptation of the achievements acquired by the students at non-university institutions.

In this Directive,

- recognition of knowledge, skills, and competencies acquired with special interest through an exemption exam to be substituted as program courses,
- recognition of workplace and internship experiences through portfolio evaluation to be substituted as program courses,
- and the crediting of certificates received from accredited institutions regarding students' special interests are covered.

Announcements of courses included in the scope of recognition of prior learning, applications, and evaluation will be made on the dates specified in the academic calendar. Recognition of prior learning will offer numerous benefits to our students and employers. For our students, increasing professional development and mobility in the labour market, preventing repetition of education and waste of time, providing early graduation, reducing the cost of learning, encouraging learning, and increasing the student's motivation and self-confidence can be counted among the benefits of recognition of prior learning. From the employers' perspectives, it will contribute to satisfying skill or competence deficiencies in the workplace, reducing the time employees spend outside the workplace for training purposes, and thus using resources more efficiently.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS and REGULATIONS  
To be able to secure the bachelor's degree in the field of Music education (and thus title of Music Teacher) the students are required to (a) have passed all courses in the curiculum, (b) have achieved a cumulative gross point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.
EXAMINATION, ASSESSMENT and GRADING REGULATIONS  
Every term, students are subjected to various mid-term studies (mid-term exams, presentation, project, seminars, quizzes, assignment, laboratory practices, etc.,) and end-of-term examinations. The contribution of both mid-term and end-of-term examinations to overall score is 50%. Marks are assigned out of 100 points. In order to attend to the end-of-term examination of a course, students must attend at least 70% of its theoretical part and if there are practical and/or laboratory sessions, they must attend 80% of them. It is required to obtain 40 out of 100 points from end-of-term examination of a course regardless of its midterm examination mark. In calculating the end-of-term mark, if a class size is more than 10, ?Norm-Referenced Assessment System? is employed, whereas if a class size is less than 10, ?Criterion-Referenced Assessment System? is employed. ?Students are regarded as successful if they get any of such scores as AA, BA, BB, BC or CC. In the case of having DC, which is a conditional mark, students can pass the course as long as they have a CGPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.0 for that term. Students having the marks from DD to FF fail. Students can take make-up examinations from all courses that they have failed at the end of the each term as long as these courses are belong to that term. GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS  
For being graduated form the music teaching program, 4-year program must be successfully completed, all lessons in response of total 240 AKTS existing in program must be accomplished and obtained a nominal score average exactly 2,00 out of 4,00.
OCCUPATIONAL PROFILES of GRADUATES  
The students graduated from the music teaching program, primarily have been employed as music teachers. Besides this, the student?s successful in the field, can be employed in Anatolian Fine Arts High Schools or Anatolia High Schools in the system of national education and the students conducted the master or PhD educations after the graduated program successfully, can be assigned in various grades of universities.
ACCESS to FURTHER STUDIES  
Successful students graduated from music teaching program, in case of taking adequate points from ALES exam and have adequate diploma points can deserve to enter master program.

DEPARTMENTAL FACILITIES : 
In our department 4 lecture halls, 4 big and 2 small totally 6 classrooms, various atelies, student study rooms, very many instruments offered for use of students and instructors as 29 piano one of which is a Grand piano, 3 digital piano, Orff instruments, organ, bağlama, violin and possibilities as orchestra practice room are available.
