FOUNDATION & HISTORY  
Department of Wildlife Ecology and Management, Graduate Program (4 years) for the first time in Turkey Karadeniz Technical University, Faculty of Forestry was established in 2009. Our education department first in Turkey, education Dersimi began in the 2012-2013 academic year.
QUALIFICATION AWARDED  
Upon successful completion of the program, students are awarded a Bachelor's Degree in Wildlife Ecology and Management. Graduates will be employed as a Wildlife Specialist in the areas that will meet the needs of the Wildlife Ecologist and the Manager in the technical services class.

ADMISSION & REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS  
1 - To have a high school diploma
2 - To obtain sufficient score in the field of Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) by ÖSYM
3- To have the necessary score from the central exam called Foreign Student Exam (YÖS) for foreign students
OBJECTIVE of THE PROGRAMME  
Department graduates; biology, ecology, and ecology of amphibians, reptiles, insects and other invertebrates, especially birds, mammals and inland aquatic animals, and ecosystems such as forest, mountain, step, wetland, with all other ecosystem components, especially flora. graduates with the necessary and sufficient knowledge about basic interactions. Graduates are trained to have all kinds of data to be able to use these knowledge in domestic and international institutions and abroad.

Among the stakeholders of the department, various institutions connected to Ministries, Universities, TUBITAK, SPO, Research Institutions, Institutes, Private Enterprises, Hunter Clubs and Associations and other NGOs and Alumni can be summarized. Our department has a high performance in research performance with KTU-BAP, SPO, TUBITAK and other external supports. It provides students with a positive atmosphere for learning and research. He tries to educate the students on-site and on-site. It offers students the opportunity to participate in research by offering them the opportunity to participate in graduate studies and to make academic career.
RECOGNATION of PRIOR LEARNING  
The "Directive on Recognition of Prior Learning", Senate Decision No. 340 issued on July 28, 2023, has been accepted and entered into force regarding the students registered in all programs of Karadeniz Technical University to determine the principles to be followed for the recognition, crediting, and adaptation of the achievements acquired by the students at non-university institutions.

In this Directive,

- recognition of knowledge, skills, and competencies acquired with special interest through an exemption exam to be substituted as program courses,
- recognition of workplace and internship experiences through portfolio evaluation to be substituted as program courses,
- and the crediting of certificates received from accredited institutions regarding students' special interests are covered.

Announcements of courses included in the scope of recognition of prior learning, applications, and evaluation will be made on the dates specified in the academic calendar. Recognition of prior learning will offer numerous benefits to our students and employers. For our students, increasing professional development and mobility in the labour market, preventing repetition of education and waste of time, providing early graduation, reducing the cost of learning, encouraging learning, and increasing the student's motivation and self-confidence can be counted among the benefits of recognition of prior learning. From the employers' perspectives, it will contribute to satisfying skill or competence deficiencies in the workplace, reducing the time employees spend outside the workplace for training purposes, and thus using resources more efficiently.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS and REGULATIONS  
The requirements for students to obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Wildlife Ecology and Management; a) To have passed all courses in the curriculum with at least DC degree, b) to have a weighted average of at least 2.0 out of 4.0; Prepared a graduation thesis, presented in front of the jury and passed a successful grade
EXAMINATION, ASSESSMENT and GRADING REGULATIONS  
Students are subjected to mid-term exams (exams, projects, field studies, quizzes, laboratory work, seminars, homework) and final exams. The grade of the mid-term exam is 50% and the contribution of the mid-term exam is 50%. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. At least 40 points are required for the final exam. Students taking one of the (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) and (CC) letter grades from a course are considered successful. At the end of each semester, students can take a make-up exam from all courses of that semester. Each student must enroll in the classes at the beginning of the semester and attend at least 70% of the courses and at least 80% of the laboratories. Midterm exams and final exams are held on the dates announced. Students who have 1 course for graduation are given graduation exam. To be successful in this exam, you need to get at least 50 out of 100 regardless of the midterm exam.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS  
a) Having successfully completed all courses in the program (240 ECTS-123.5 credits)
b) To have a weighted average of at least 2.0 out of 4.0,
c) To have completed 60 days of compulsory internship period in at least two different places and to take the passing notes from the reports prepared for this internship,
d) Prepared a graduation thesis, presented in front of the jury and passed a successful grade

Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks, General Directorate of Forestry, General Directorate of Combating Desertification and Erosion, General Directorate of Protection of Natural Assets of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, General Directorate of Environmental Management, Environmental Impact Assessment, Permission and Control The Ministry of Culture and Tourism, as well as other public units involved in wildlife issues, as well as private hunters rented by the private sector from the state, as well as private sector-run wildlife production facilities, travel agencies interested in hunting tourism, tourism companies, or nature conservation work in civil society organizations.
ACCESS to FURTHER STUDIES  
Candidates who successfully complete their undergraduate education can study in postgraduate (master's and doctoral) programs provided that they have a valid score in ALES and have sufficient knowledge of English.

DEPARTMENTAL FACILITIES : 
Department courses are given in the same building together with the Department of Forestry Engineering. There are 4 amplifiers and 7 classrooms in the existing building. All classes are smart class. Each class has a projection device and screen. In this section, 6 different diameters of hunting and embalming animal samples are stored as course and museum materials, samples of a wide variety of birds, mammal wild animals, reptiles, amphibians and fish species and a Wildlife Museum and a Laboratory with branded rifles. In addition, Entomology Laboratory, GIS (Geographical Information System) Laboratory, Forest Botany Laboratory and Computer Laboratories can be used jointly.
