FOUNDATION & HISTORY  
Nursing education at Karadeniz Technical University started in 1986 as an Associate Degree Program at KTU Trabzon Health Services Vocational School. Upon the request of the Ministry of Health, the proposal of the Council of Higher Education and the decision of the Council of Ministers published in the Official Gazette dated 02.11.1996 and numbered 22805, 79 Health Schools were put into operation by the relevant universities, and on 22.11.1996 the Ministry of Health and the Council of Higher Education In accordance with the protocol signed between the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, Trabzon Health School was established to provide education at the undergraduate level in line with the decision that nursing education in our country can only be gained through the education to be given at the undergraduate level. In line with the decision of the Council of Ministers taken on 01.02.2010, it was decided to continue the undergraduate education in the Department of Nursing at the Faculty of Health Sciences. With the decision of the Council of Higher Education dated 01.12.2010 and numbered 43307, the opening of departments and departments was deemed appropriate. As of the 2011-2012 academic year, it started to accept students. The education program of KTU SBF Nursing Department is an integrated education program model prepared by considering Bologna harmonization process, YOK and TYYÇ, HUÇEP standards. This model includes the Backward Design Model and System approach, which are product-based technical-scientific approaches.
Internal Medicine Nursing and Surgical Diseases Nursing graduate programs with thesis started in the Department of Nursing as of 2010, affiliated to the Institute of Health Sciences of Karadeniz Technical University. In the following years, master's programs with thesis started and are still continuing in the Departments of Nursing Fundamentals and Management (2013), Child Health and Diseases Nursing (2014) and Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing (2015).
Doctorate education program in the Department of Nursing was opened with the approval of the Higher Education Council dated 22.08.2013 and numbered 45369. Within the scope of Nursing Department; Nursing Fundamentals, Internal Diseases Nursing, Surgical Diseases Nursing, Child Health and Diseases Nursing, Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing, Nursing Management and Public Health Nursing Doctorate education continues. Postgraduate education programs are carried out by the faculty members of the Nursing Department.
QUALIFICATION AWARDED  
The students who have successfully completed all of the program are given Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.

ADMISSION & REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS  
1 - High school diploma 2 - Obtaining the required grade from National University Entrance and Placement Exam (ÖSS) 3 -To have no disability and barriers related to military.
OBJECTIVE of THE PROGRAMME  
1. Graduates are employed in public and private health institutions with up-to-date knowledge, skills and attitudes in order to fulfill the roles and functions of nursing at professional standards in accordance with the law
2. Graduates diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate the health needs of the healthy/sick individual, family and society with an evidence-based and holistic approach, using care and information technologies.
3.Graduates communicate effectively with healthy/sick individuals and their relatives, healthcare team and other disciplines, and act in accordance with professional ethical principles and values
4. Graduates take a role in nursing education, management and research process, assume leadership, adopt lifelong learning in line with their career goals with an innovative and entrepreneurial philosophy
RECOGNATION of PRIOR LEARNING  
The "Directive on Recognition of Prior Learning", Senate Decision No. 340 issued on July 28, 2023, has been accepted and entered into force regarding the students registered in all programs of Karadeniz Technical University to determine the principles to be followed for the recognition, crediting, and adaptation of the achievements acquired by the students at non-university institutions.



In this Directive,



- recognition of knowledge, skills, and competencies acquired with special interest through an exemption exam to be substituted as program courses,

- recognition of workplace and internship experiences through portfolio evaluation to be substituted as program courses,

- and the crediting of certificates received from accredited institutions regarding students' special interests are covered.


Announcements of courses included in the scope of recognition of prior learning, applications, and evaluation will be made on the dates specified in the academic calendar.
Recognition of prior learning will offer numerous benefits to our students and employers. For our students, increasing professional development and mobility in the labour market, preventing repetition of education and waste of time, providing early graduation, reducing the cost of learning, encouraging learning, and increasing the student's motivation and self-confidence can be counted among the benefits of recognition of prior learning. From the employers' perspectives, it will contribute to satisfying skill or competence deficiencies in the workplace, reducing the time employees spend outside the workplace for training purposes, and thus using resources more efficiently.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS and REGULATIONS  
1-To complete all of the thought courses of the programme with 240 ECTS credits 2-To achieve a CGPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 .
EXAMINATION, ASSESSMENT and GRADING REGULATIONS  
The students are subjected to mid-term exams, semester tasks (preclinic practices, internship, seminar, quiz, assignment or another mid-term exam) and end-of-term exams. The contribution of intermediate exams and semester tasks is 50% the end-of-semester exam is 50%, respectively.All the exams are assessed over 100. It is mandatory to take at least 50 from the end-of-term exam. Passing grade for the end-of-the year is 50. Students who accomplish (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) and (CC) from one course are considered successful.Students can take at most two make-up examinations at the end of each semester.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS  
1-To complete all of the thought courses of the programme with 240 ECTS credits 2-To achieve a CGPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 .
OCCUPATIONAL PROFILES of GRADUATES  
Nurses serves in the private and govermental areas. They are also working private and govermental hospitals, school of health services, nursing schools, health science faculties, community health centers, schools, hospices, nurseries.
ACCESS to FURTHER STUDIES  
The students who have successfully completed the program are able to receive education in the upper graduate programme (master and doctorate) on condition that they pass the ALES and UDS exams.

DEPARTMENTAL FACILITIES : 
Nursing Department is providing education at the building of Faculty of Pharmacy temporarly and its educational facilities are as following: It has a conference salon (80 persons), six classes (84 persons), one class (100 persons) and there are computers and projectors in all classes. It has also one cantine (coffee/tea machines), and one skills laboratory. There are three adult nursing care skills manikins (intravenouse applications, injections applications, tube insertion within the body etc.), CPR manikin, gynecology manikin, manikin for epizyo, pelvic examination and intrauterin device, vaginal examination, newborn care, some organs and bone models for anatomy, blood pressure cuffs, thermometers, bascule, aspirator, thorax drainage tube and two treatment trolley in the skills laboratory.
