RECOGNATION of PRIOR LEARNING
On July 28, 2023, Senate Resolution No. 340, titled 'Recognition of Prior Learning Directive,' was adopted and implemented by Karadeniz Technical University to determine the principles to recognize, credit, and align the gains acquired by registered students in all programs of the university from a higher education institution outside.

The directive includes:

Recognition of knowledge, skills, and
competencies acquired with special interest through exemption exams to be counted in place of program courses,

Recognition of workplace and internship experiences through portfolio assessment to be counted in place of program courses,
Accredited certifications obtained from institutions aligned with their special interests to be credited.
Announcement of the courses included in the recognition of prior learning, receiving applications, and evaluations are conducted on dates specified in the academic calendar.

Recognition of Prior Learning will offer numerous benefits to our students and employers. For students, it will enhance professional development and mobility in the labor market, prevent educational repetition and time wastage, enable early graduation, reduce the cost of learning, encourage learning, and boost motivation and self-confidence. From the perspective of employers, it will address skill or competency gaps in the workplace, reduce the time employees spend outside the workplace for education purposes, and thus contribute to more efficient resource utilization.
