FOUNDATION & HISTORY  
This program was established in 2010 and started to accept students in the 2010-2011 academic year.
QUALIFICATION AWARDED  
The students graduating from this department are given Associate Degree in Foreign Trade diploma. The graduates are given the title of the Foreign Trade Staff.

ADMISSION & REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS  
1 - High school diploma from the school, 2 - University Student Selection Examination (OSS) to get enough grade.
OBJECTIVE of THE PROGRAMME  
The program has a training structure including 4 semesters in two years. Besides the general cultural courses, basic professional (field) courses are included in First Year Class curriculum. Vocational (field) courses mainly includes in Second Years Class curriculum. Most of the courses is based upon the practices. At the end of the programme, the students complete professional training consisting of 60 days. Thus, the theory-practice opportunity can be ensured.
RECOGNATION of PRIOR LEARNING  
The "Directive on Recognition of Prior Learning", Senate Decision No. 340 issued on July 28, 2023, has been accepted and entered into force regarding the students registered in all programs of Karadeniz Technical University to determine the principles to be followed for the recognition, crediting, and adaptation of the achievements acquired by the students at non-university institutions.

In this Directive,

- recognition of knowledge, skills, and competencies acquired with special interest through an exemption exam to be substituted as program courses,
- recognition of workplace and internship experiences through portfolio evaluation to be substituted as program courses,
- and the crediting of certificates received from accredited institutions regarding students' special interests are covered.

Announcements of courses included in the scope of recognition of prior learning, applications, and evaluation will be made on the dates specified in the academic calendar. Recognition of prior learning will offer numerous benefits to our students and employers. For our students, increasing professional development and mobility in the labour market, preventing repetition of education and waste of time, providing early graduation, reducing the cost of learning, encouraging learning, and increasing the student's motivation and self-confidence can be counted among the benefits of recognition of prior learning. From the employers' perspectives, it will contribute to satisfying skill or competence deficiencies in the workplace, reducing the time employees spend outside the workplace for training purposes, and thus using resources more efficiently.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS and REGULATIONS  
A student is required to have a minimum CGPA of 2.00/4.00 and all of the courses should be completely successed. In addition to this, professional training-consisting of 60 days- should be completed successfully.
EXAMINATION, ASSESSMENT and GRADING REGULATIONS  
Each course is assessed via a midterm exam and a final end-of-term exam, with contributions of 50% and 50% respectively. The students are required to get at least 45 form end of term exam. The marking is made out of 100. The details given for each course in the programme include the detailed assessment methods together with a description of the second mid-term exam.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS  
At the end of the four semesters, the students completing 120 ECTS and getting the grades CGPA at least 2.00 over 4.00 have right to graduate. In addition to this, the completing of professional training-consisting of 60 days - is a condition to graduate.
OCCUPATIONAL PROFILES of GRADUATES  
The students graduating from this program can employ as entrepreneur and employee. These students can work at public sector or business dealing with foreign trade, the foreign exchange department of banks, companies of customs and transportation.
ACCESS to FURTHER STUDIES  
The students graduating from the department are offered opportunity transfer to the undergraduate programs in their fields with The Examination for Vertical Transfer of Two-Year College Graduates (DGS), undergraduate programs in their fields. The Graduates of Associate Degree Programs can apply to the Undergraduate Programs of the Open Education Faculty, they can also apply to the formal education programs for vertical transfer. There is no limitation here, and the candidates who wish to make Vertical Transfer to the Undergraduate Programs of the Open Education Faculty, do not need to have this exam.

DEPARTMENTAL FACILITIES : 
There are classes with projectors and computer laboratories for theoretical and practical applications in the department. There is a library allocated for the associated degree program, and there are study places where wireless internet is available for the purpose of enabling students to make use of the internet.
