FOUNDATION & HISTORY  
The foundation of our faculty is decided by the date of 04.09.2003 and numbered 6034. With the decision of Higher Education Council dated 28.07.2005 and numbered 15993, our departments were established. In 2005, the objectives related to the construction of faculty buildings were set and projected. Construction of our building started in 2006 and our building was delivered in 2011. Our Faculty consists of 3 departments: Department of Basic Pharmaceutical Sciences, Department of Pharmaceutical Professional Sciences and Department of Pharmaceutical Technology. With the decision dated 28.01.2011 and numbered 4177, it was deemed appropriate to open the Departments. In addition to the new clinical aspect of the pharmacy profession, the training program includes basic functions in pharmaceutical technology; compulsory-elective theoretical courses, practice / laboratory and internship applications. The duration of education is 5 years and graduates are given diploma as Pharmacist.
QUALIFICATION AWARDED  
The students who have successfully completed all of the thought courses of the programme with 300 ECTS credits and achieved a CGPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 are given Bachelor's Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences with the title of "Pharmacist".

1 - High school or equivalent school diploma, 2 - Obtaining the required grade from Undergraduate Placement Exam
OBJECTIVE of THE PROGRAMME  
Train modern pharmacist who can use technology related to the profession and make research with professional ethics; to support science-generating units and take mission to the provision of the information produced for health services. To be a faculty, training pharmacists in universal standards, emphasis on patient-focused education, having current educational technologies, remaining on the agenda with undergraduate and graduate level of scientific studies, converting its scientific data to service.
RECOGNATION of PRIOR LEARNING  
The "Directive on Recognition of Prior Learning", Senate Decision No. 340 issued on July 28, 2023, has been accepted and entered into force regarding the students registered in all programs of Karadeniz Technical University to determine the principles to be followed for the recognition, crediting, and adaptation of the achievements acquired by the students at non-university institutions.

In this Directive,

- recognition of knowledge, skills, and competencies acquired with special interest through an exemption exam to be substituted as program courses,
- recognition of workplace and internship experiences through portfolio evaluation to be substituted as program courses,
- and the crediting of certificates received from accredited institutions regarding students' special interests are covered.

Announcements of courses included in the scope of recognition of prior learning, applications, and evaluation will be made on the dates specified in the academic calendar. Recognition of prior learning will offer numerous benefits to our students and employers. For our students, increasing professional development and mobility in the labour market, preventing repetition of education and waste of time, providing early graduation, reducing the cost of learning, encouraging learning, and increasing the student's motivation and self-confidence can be counted among the benefits of recognition of prior learning. From the employers' perspectives, it will contribute to satisfying skill or competence deficiencies in the workplace, reducing the time employees spend outside the workplace for training purposes, and thus using resources more efficiently.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS and REGULATIONS  
Students who successfully complete all the courses in the program (equivalent to 300 ECTS), obtain at least 2.0 weighted grade point average over 4.00, and pass the internship report prepared by their 6-month professional internship can obtain a Bachelor of Science (BSc) Degree in Pharmacy with the title of "Pharmacist".
EXAMINATION, ASSESSMENT and GRADING REGULATIONS  
Midterm, semester work (internships, seminars, quizzes, homework, or a second mid-term) and the final exam applied to students for each course. The contribution of midterm and semester work to success grade is 50% and final examination is 50%. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. Students must take at least 50 points to the final exam. Students who take (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) and (CC) letter grades are considered to have managed the course. At the end of each semester, students can take make-up exam of at most two courses of that semester.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

OCCUPATIONAL PROFILES of GRADUATES  
Pharmacists can work in public or in private sector. Pharmacists can work for hospitals of Ministry of Health, private hospitals or university hospitals. They can have their own pharmacy. In addition, they can work for drug companies or various branches of pharmaceutical industry.
ACCESS to FURTHER STUDIES  
Candidates that complete the undergraduate education with successful degree, can study at graduate and postgraduate programs provided that to take the current note from ALES and provided to have sufficient level of English language proficiency.

DEPARTMENTAL FACILITIES : 
There are a total of 13 classrooms, 5 student laboratories and 10 research laboratories in the building of Faculty A block. Two of the classrooms are designed as amphitheater. The capacity of the classrooms is between 80 and 90 people. The capacities of pharmacy small amphitheater (EKA) and large amphitheater (EBA) are 99 and 135, respectively. All classrooms have a desktop computer and a projector. In addition, there is one Simulated Pharmacy in which the pharmacy environment is established and used for prescription practices and internship oral exams within the scope of various elective courses. There is also a Conference Hall with the name of Prof. Dr. Rasin ÖZYAVUZ (ROS) with a capacity of 64 people in B block faculty building. There are also some recreational areas for students within the faculty building.
